Summer Academy for Architecture, Reurbanization and Sustainability |

Dates: June 3 - July 3, 2008
Topic for 2008: "The Urban Getaway – Ein Refugium in der Stadt." An intensive design workshop focusing on strategies for designing the smallest possible building to enhance the density of the city of Berlin. American and German students work together in pairs to develop design proposals, using models and simulating the impact of light and energy hitting the building's surface. The 4-week program concludes with a presentation and discussion with interested professionals. An integrated intensive German language course will teach students essential skills to help communicate with their German peers.

Professor Samuel Adler of New York City 's The Juiliard School will teach this special summer course. The course consists of two individual composition lessons per week plus a three hour master class given by Professor Samuel Adler and other internationally renowned composers. Each student will be matched with one or more performer(s), and write a work for them. The composition will be performed at a final public concert. On request: 2 hour conducting class once a week. The program offers excursions to Dresden , Weimar and Potsdam , as well as a diverse cultural program.
Program cost: 1,930 euros (about US$ 2,700), plus 500-900 euros for accommodation, depending on type

Munich Summer Curriculum: Exploring New Media |

An innovative new program covering communications science, media theory and management, media informatics as well as German language instruction. For the first 3 weeks students attend German language lessons and specially selected lectures and seminars at LMU. This is followed by a specially designed 4-week intensive study program in media studies and communications science. The program concludes with a 3-week media studies internship with a German company.
